Welcome to the Fitness Calorie Calculator!

  • Basal metabolic rate (BMR) is the amount of energy needed while resting in a temperate environment when the digestive system is inactive.

  • In other words, BMR can be described as the estimated number of calories a person can consume in a day to maintain their body-weight, assuming they remain at rest.

  • To determine how many calories you should generally consume per day, you can take your BMR value and multiply it by a constant.

    • This constant is based on how much physical activity you engage in on a regular basis.

This calculator uses the Mifflin-St Jeor Equation for calculating one's basal metabolic rate (BMR):

For men:
BMR = 10W + 6.25H - 5A + 5

For women:
BMR = 10W + 6.25H - 5A - 161

Where 'W' is body weight (kgs), 'H' is body height (cm), and 'A' is age (years).
