About Me

Sharon Lynn Chu is an Assistant Professor at the University of Florida (UF) in the Department of Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE). I lead the Embodied Learning & Experience (ELX) Lab [pronounced 'el-x'] research group. The ELX lab conducts research in two main broad areas: learning technologies and technologies for health and well-being. All in all, we study human behavior in technological contexts.

The ELX lab is part of the larger Human-Centered Computing group, a group of research labs in the CISE Department at UF that together spans diverse areas of Human-Computer Interaction and Human-Centered Computing.

Dr. Chu received her B.Soc.Sci (1st Class Honors) in Communication and New Media from the National University of Singapore, her MS in Computer Science & Applications and a graduate certifcate in Human-Computer Interaction from Virginia Tech, and her Ph.D in Human-Computer Interaction from Texas A&M University. She has been awarded funding from the National Science Foundation to study new forms of technology to support science learning, second language learning, and identity development in children.
