Abstract:   System-on-Chip (SoC) is the brain behind a wide variety of computing and communication systems. Unlike microcontroller based designs in the past, even resource constrained IoT (Internet-of-Things) devices nowadays incorporate one or more complex SoCs that consist of many Intellectual Property (IP) cores such as processor, memory, controller, FPGA, etc. Network-on-Chip (NoC) is a widely used solution for on-chip communication between IPs in complex SoCs. There have been significant research efforts in the last decade in developing a lightweight and secure on-chip communication architecture to enable trusted communication between heterogeneous IPs in NoC-based SoCs. This book will be a comprehensive reference for SoC architects, security engineers as well as researchers interested in secure and trustworthy on-chip communication architectures. This book will include contributions from experts in the field of network-on-chip security both from industry and academia. The book will cover a wide variety of state-of-the-art NoC attacks and effective countermeasures for diverse communication technologies including electrical, optical and wireless NoCs.
