Alumni Awards
Annually, the Computer & Information Science and Engineering Department in the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering at the University of Florida will present awards to alumni deemed to be extraordinary in their personal achievements, contributions to and in their field of expertise, or their service to the department and the College. Nominations are evaluated by a committee with recommendations made to the CISE Department Chair for approval.
The goals of the CISE Department’s alumni awards program are:
- To advance the reputation of the department by recognizing the accomplishments of our alumni.
- To be inspirational and aspirational to our current students.
- To showcase alumni accomplishments in a way that’s inclusive and reflects the diversity of the department’s alumni community.
- To cultivate and steward alumni to a greater connection with the department.
To nominate for the awards below, please submit a nomination letter, including the nominee’s name, year of graduation, degree, email address, current position, company/organization, and career/achievement highlights, together with a CV, to awards@cise.ufl.edu. The deadline for submissions is December 31, 2025.
Distinguished Alumni Award for Academic Excellence
The Distinguished Alumni Award for Academic Excellence is bestowed upon alumni who have achieved remarkable success in an academic environment, particularly excelling in teaching, research, or making significant contributions to education.
Distinguished Alumni Award for Career Achievement
The Distinguished Alumni Award for Career Achievement acknowledges alumni who have attained success in business or institutional leadership and/or have demonstrated outstanding professional accomplishments.
Distinguished Alumni Award for Entrepreneurship
The Distinguished Alumni Award for Entrepreneurship honors exceptional alumni who have demonstrated outstanding entrepreneurial achievements. This award celebrates individuals who have made significant contributions to the field through innovation, leadership, and a commitment to excellence. We invite nominations of alumni who have successfully launched and led ventures, driven technological advancements, or inspired others with their entrepreneurial spirit.
Distinguished Young Alumni Award
The Distinguished Young Alumni Award celebrates alumni who are 40 years old or younger and have demonstrated rapid advancement in their chosen fields or have made exceptional contributions through civic and social activities. This prestigious award also acknowledges qualities of integrity and leadership, which are evident in their achievements since graduation.
