Dr. Gerhard X. Ritter, CISE Professor Emeritus and former department chair, was an plenary keynote speaker at the 19th Iboamerican Congress on Pattern Recognition (CIARP 2014) in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. This annual conference was held November 2-5, 2014. The title of his talk was Lattice-Based Dendritic Computing: A Biomimetic Approach to Artificial Neural Networks. In addition to the plenary talk, Prof. Ritter led a workshop on biomimetic computing.
In December 2014, Ritter gave the invited opening keynote address at the Open German/Russian Workshop on Pattern Recognition and Image Understanding (OGRW-9-2014) at the University of Koblenz, Germany. His address was titled From Image Algebra to Biomimetic Neural Networks.
