Farimah Farahmandi, a fourth-year Ph.D. candidate in the University of Florida’s Department of Computer & Information Science & Engineering (CISE), was named a co-runner-up for an award from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
The System Validation and Debug Technology Committee (SVDTC) Student Research Award is given in recognition of an outstanding researcher in the field of system validation and debug. Farahmandi won for her project, “Automated Validation Techniques Using Formal Methods.” The goal of her project is to address challenges in post-silicon validation.
“I am very honored and humbled to receive this recognition. It means that I am working on the correct path and it motivates me to keep working hard,” Farahmandi said. “It also raises some awareness about my research.”
Farahmandi graduated from the University of Tehran with her bachelor’s in computer engineering and her master’s in computer hardware engineering. She came to UF in Fall 2013 to earn her Ph.D. while focusing her research on designing and developing automated validation techniques using formal methods.
Farahmandi is currently a graduate research assistant in the CISE Embedded Systems Lab under the supervision of Prabhat Mishra, Ph.D., director of the lab and CISE professor.
