Four International CISE Students Receive Outstanding Achievement Awards

Four students from the University of Florida Department of Computer & Information Science & Engineering (CISE) were the recipients of the Outstanding Achievement Award from the UF International Center. The winners – Balaji Balasubramani, Ram Kartikeya Boyini, Pedro Guillermo Feijoo Garcia, and Pan He – were among 20 students from the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering to receive the award.

The International Student Achievement Awards Ceremony was initiated to highlight the accomplishments of international students at the University of Florida. The awards recognize outstanding contributions of international students to promote and foster continued involvement and outstanding achievement in the college, university, and community.

Balaji Balasubramani

Balasubramani earned his master’s degree in computer science in December 2021. He is currently a software engineer at Meta.

Ram Kartikeya Boyini

Boyini is pursuing his master’s degree in computer science, and he is a graduate student researcher at the Florida Institute for Cybersecurity Research.

Pedro Guillermo Feijoo Garcia

Feijoo Garcia, is a Ph.D. student in the Virtual Experiences Research Group and is advised by Benjamin Lok, Ph.D. His research focuses on users’ perceptions and their interactions with virtual humans (i.e., embodied speech agents) designed for mental wellness conversations.

Pan He

He is a Ph.D. student in the Modern Artificial intelligence and Learning Technologies Lab (UF MALT Lab) and is advised by Anand Rangarajan, Ph.D., and Sanjay Ranka, Ph.D. His current research is focused on understanding the 3-D motion and structure of a dynamic scene by developing deep learning methods in various environments.
