Constitution of Gators Cricket Club

 

Article I. Name

The name of this club shall be The Gators Cricket Club at the University of Florida (UF), to be called GCC from here forward in this and other documents of GCC

 

Article II. Objectives

The objectives of GCC are to create an interest in the game of cricket among the UF community and provide opportunities to play and enjoy the sport viz. hosting and visiting other cricket clubs; participate in the Big Bend cricket league

 

Article III. Membership

Membership of GCC is open to all UF students and faculty. Gainesville residents can participate as guests.

 

Article IV. Meetings

General meetings / practice sessions will be held every week throughout each semester.

 

Article V. Terms, Eligibility and Election of Officers

  • The office-bearers of this organization shall adhere to all University requirements for eligibility to hold office, and will be responsible for ensuring that the organization follows all University regulations. The election of any office-bearer shall be by a general membership vote.
  • The election the office-bearers shall occur twice a year in the first month of Fall and Spring semesters.
  • The office-bearers shall include President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Equipment Manager and Webmaster.
  • The elected officers shall nominate a faculty advisor.
  • The office-bearers along with the faculty advisor form the Executive Committee and are collectively responsible to organization.
  • Nominations for the Executive Committee shall be opened at the meeting prior to elections and will remain open at least two days prior to the elections.
  • The nominees for any Executive Committee position must be members and in addition, only UF students can be nominated for the posts of President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer.
  • The candidates will each be allowed to present their manifesto to the members in random order.
  • The candidate with the highest number of votes will be declared elected.
  • Offices falling vacant shall be filled by a nominee of the President approved by the other members of the Executive Committee.
  • Any member of GCC may file impeachment against an officer of GCC. In order to do so, the member must fill out a written statement of charges and notify all members. The charges must be discussed and voted on during a special meeting by all members.
  • In order for an officer to be removed by impeachment, a vote of three-fourths of the members present at the special meeting is necessary.

 

Article VI. Duties and Responsibilities of the Officers and the faculty advisor

The President shall preside at all meetings / practice sessions and ensure compliance with all student government regulations, bylaws and handbooks. The President is also the primary contact person to the club and is responsible for the smooth administration of club activities.

 

The Vice-President shall assist the president and assume all duties of the president in his/her absence.

 

The Treasurer shall be responsible for all funds belonging to the GCC and will be in-charge of all fund-raising activities. The Treasurer shall also be responsible for the budget and communications with the sports clubs office with regard to funds and accounts.

 

The Secretary shall prepare an agenda for each semester and be responsible for coordinating the activities of the club. This will include arranging matches against other clubs and scheduling the league games.

 

All officers mentioned above shall perform other duties and responsibilities as defined in the officer’s handbook.

 

The Equipment Manager shall be responsible for purchasing and maintaining all club equipment. He/she shall also be responsible for purchasing team uniforms and checking out equipment from the Recreation Centers.

 

The Webmaster shall be responsible for creating and maintaining the club website. The website should include contact information for all Executive Committee members, current activities and game scores.

 

The Faculty Advisor shall overview the functioning of the club and assist the President as and when required.

 

Article VII. Regulations

Members shall neither be discriminated nor harassed against their color, ethnicity, race, religion, age or sex.

 

Article VIII. Amendments

Any amendment to this constitution shall require two-thirds majority among the members.
