Research Interests
My research focuses on indexing, storing, accessing and use of
bioinformatics data (DNA, protein sequences, protein structures,
pathways, microarray, ...). Bioinformatics data is different than
traditional data for 1) it has redundancy, 2) it is inaccurate, 3) it
contains cross-relationship among various classes of data, and 4)
Measuring the similarity or distance is nontrivial. I am also
interested in core database problems that will assist management of
bioinformatics data. Below, you can find a list of the projects I am
currently working on.
-
Multiple sequence alignment and its applications. (More)
-
Indexing and querying of bioinformatics data. (More)
-
Identification and use of repeats in DNA and protein (More)
sequences.
-
Finding drug targets using metabolic networks. (More here
or here)
-
Clustering and classification of CGH data. (More here
or here)
Funding
My current funding sources are UFGI seed
grant, ORAU junior faculty award and NSF (DBI-0606607).
