Speaker: Dave Wilson. Title: Autonomous Border Computations on Echocardiographic Image Sequences Abstract: An introduction to echocardiographic image analysis is presented, where the focus is on the development of computer-based algorithms for making autonomous measurements. The talk will be structured as follows: 1. image formation a. noise and structure, b. instrument settings, and c. patient variability. 2. the quantities to be measured a. area, b. volume, c. wall motion, d. wall thickness, and e. sensitivity of these computations. 3. image analysis a. how a computer-based method can be developed, b. how knowledge of the expert can be incorporated into the method, c. why failure is guaranteed, and d. what does it mean to work? In this talk the clinical application will drive the choice of views considered as well as the choice of techniques.
