Drishti TeamFormed Fall 1999 The people involved in the design and implementation of this project are Dr. Sumi Helal, Balaji Ramachandran, and Steve Moore We work in the Harris Mobile Networking and Computing Laboratory WORKThis work was done while in Dr. Helal's Mobile Computing Class Spring 1999 Below are links to work that i have some~what orginized so far. The First report I wrote. I am sure that much of the information used by this system would be benificial to anyone wanting to get around campus, so I will design it with this in mind. The Second report I wrote. I do not think that there is enough information in existing Geographical Information Systems on campus to navigate the way I am envisioning. I intend to put much work and thought into what data needs to be gathered and an efficient way to model the relationships between this data so we can use it to navigate the campus with out sight. However I will look into ways of minning out of existing GIS stores data appropriate for sightless navigation. One thing I should do is to pick START and END points on campus and set up a navigable path between them, and also try to pull a navigable path out of existing GIS on campus. This is a Slide show that I presented in class with some ideas on how to build a navigation system for the blind.
