For anyone who thinks this page is too plain... sorry. As nice as frames and graphics are, I hate having to wait for them. Give me a pure text web page any day. Just my $.02 worth.

Perl Projects

Set::Files: A perl 5 module which allows you to easily create sets of elements where each set is contained in a separate file. This allows you to delegate maintenance of individual sets to different individuals.

This module is available from CPAN under authors/id/SBECK. It is actively supported by me and is undergoing minimal development to add a few more features. Development will be minimal to keep the module small and simple.

Term::TUI: A perl 5 module which allows you to easily create a text-based user interface around a set of perl routines. The interface is similar in feel to the unix "lpc" or "gnuplot" commands. It features online help, command history and command line editing (if Term::ReadLine::GNU or Term::ReadLine::Perl is installed - the latter is untested however).

This module is available from CPAN under authors/id/SBECK. It is actively supported by me and is undergoing minimal development to add a few more features. Development will be minimal to keep the module small and simple.

Date::Manip: A perl 5 module which allows you to easily parse and manipulate dates (several different foreign languages are supported and more can be added easily, international date formats are also supported). A date calculator is also included to tell the time elapsed between two dates, or to find a date a certain amount of time from a given date. Calculations can also be done using a special business mode where weekends and holidays are ignored.

You can download the newest released version of Date::Manip from your nearest CPAN site under authors/id/SBECK. Refer to the perl FAQ for information on the nearest CPAN site. The version below is the absolutely newest version (the one I am currently working on and should be considered an alpha release). It may fix some problems that appear in the official CPAN version, but may introduce others. It DOES pass all tests when run on a Solaris 2.x machine however.

Math::SigFigs: A perl 5 module which allows you to work with significant figures. It currently calculates the number of significant figures in a number, formats a number to a given number of figures, and does basic arithmetic operations.

This module is available from CPAN under authors/id/SBECK. It is actively supported by me, but is not being developed at this point because I consider the module to be complete.

For anyone who's interested, here's a bunch of my non-work related stuff.
