Information for Prospective Students

The Embedded Systems Lab has openings for several Ph.D. students (with full financial aid) to work in the broad area of Cybersecurity, Internet-of-things and Quantum computing. You can pursue Computer Science (CS) or Computer Engineering (CE) related research in my group based on your interest and expertise. If you have a CS background (algorithms, data structures, and computer organization) with strong analytical and programming skills, you can pursue (i) software security attacks and countermeasures, (ii) security analysis using machine learning, (iii) formal verification, (iv) adversarial machine learning, or (v) quantum computing. On the other hand, if you have CE background (computer architecture, embedded systems, and VHDL/Verilog programming), you can work on (i) hardware/firmware security and privacy, (ii) renewable energy, (iii) side-channel attacks and countermeasures, (iv) IoT/wearable security, or (v) design automation for quantum circuits.

Please go through the research webpage and list of publications to get an idea of the broad research focus and results. The alumni from my group are successful professors in premier universities (e.g., ECE/UF, ECE/UT Dallas, and CS/ECNU) and senior architects/managers in leading companies (Apple, Amazon, Google, Intel, TI, Nvidia, and VMware). If you are interested, please send me an email with your CV (highlighting courses, overall GPA as well as any research/industry experience) to explore the possibility of Ph.D. admission with full financial aid (research assistantship) starting Fall 2020.
