Human Computer Interaction - Assignment 1

Please read the following instructions before starting the applet.

The Interface

1. The Interface is created using java Applets. Make sure that you are having the latest java updates installed in your browser before navigating to the next page.

2. The Interface is divided into two panels.

The top panel is the media player interface.

The Bottom Panel displays the Task List, Results and Time.

3. The Interface can be navigated using mouse or keyboard.

Use <TAB> key to move to the next item while navigating the interface using keyboard only. The Item currently selected will be visible with a thin box around the label of the item.

Press ANY KEY to activate an item using key board after navigating to it using the <TAB> key.

Note: To navigate between CD, AM/FM, ALARM tabs use <TAB> key and directional arrows.

3. The BOTTOM PANEL of the screen shows the information about the tasks and results(whether the task is successful or not).

Please note that the BOTTOM panel can ONLY be navigated using Mouse. And this is not part of the interface you are evaluating.

4. Please read the instructions given in the notification area of the bottom panel and follow them for successful completion of the evaluation.

Working on Interface.

1. Once the applet is loaded you can practice for as long as you want to accustom to it

2. Once you click the Show task button, evaluation starts and Task appear one at a time.

3. IMPORTANT: To perform a given task please follow this procedure

Press START .

Perform Task.

Press Finish .

WARNING:Pressing the START and FINISH button is compulsory. Failure to do so might give false task completion timings.

4. You can proceed to next task once the task is successfully completed.

5. Once you finish all the task lists, please click the SUBMIT button and a Log file will be displayed in the Task List display area

How the design could be improved.

Some Clarifications

1.)If AM is shown on the AM-FM button, then FM frequency is selected and vice versa.

2.)If ALARM OFF is shown on the ALARM toggle button, then ALARM is turned off. Else ALARM IS ON

Procedure to set frequency to a preset

1.)Get Frequency.

2.)Press SET button.

3.)Then press desired PRESET.

Procedure to set alarm to a certain time

1.)Press SET button.

2.)Give time.

3.)Press SET button.
