Your Final Presentations were the best any class has done thus far for CIS4914!! Excellent work! Re: Follow-up, there are four people who need to either present or get their advisor grading forms to me ASAP: B. DeCESARE - Advisor Grading Form G. HAINES - You need to see me during my office hours M. LABABIDI - Remainder of Advisor Grade needed J. WITTMAN - Advisor Grading Form You are responsible for getting this information to me by the END OF THIS WEEK. Otherwise, WITHOUT THIS INFORMATION, I CANNOT GRADE YOUR PERFORMANCE, AND YOU WILL NOT GRADUATE. Grades will be posted on or about 15 Dec 05, after I have finished reading and scoring your Final Reports. Thank you for being such an excellent class!! Best wishes for good luck and success in your lives and careers - and, Happy Holidays :) Mark. mssz@cise.ufl.edu ----| Message #7 |---- Date: Fri, 18 Nov 2005 18:04:47 -0500 (EST) Subject: CIS4914 Final Presentation Dates/Times, Signups, Requirements Class: This is a rather lengthy email, which details the Final Presentation and its dates/time, and requirements. Firstly, the Final Presentation dates and times (in CSE/E404) are: Thursday 01 Dec 05 - 5.30pm to 9.30pm CSE/E404 Friday 02 Dec 05 - 3.00pm to 6.00pm CSE/E404 Monday 05 Dec 05 - 5.00pm to 9.00pm CSE/E404 Normally, I don't like to split the presentations across a weekend, but this was the only convenient set of times for E404 availability. My apologies for any inconvenience this might cause. Secondly, the requirements for the Final Presentation have changed slightly, due to the ABET accreditation process. HOWEVER, THIS WILL NOT CHANGE THE WAY YOUR GRADE IS COMPUTED. - When you give your report to your Advisor, please provide him/her with the following form (on paper) for that person to fill out, sign, and give to you, so you can provide it to me with your final report: http://www.cise.ufl.edu/~mssz/SeniorProject/ABET2006-CIS4914-FinalRpt-AdvsGrd-Questionnnaire-F05.pdf All parts of the form must be filled out, including the rating- scale (1-5, N) questions in Part 2 - these will not affect your grade, but are for ABET purposes. - Also, A NEW REQUIREMENT THAT WILL NOT AFFECT YOUR GRADE is that you fill out the following form (again, for ABET purposes) and print it out, giving me the hardcopy: http://www.cise.ufl.edu/~mssz/SeniorProject/ABET2006-CIS4914-FinalPres-StudentQuestions-FINAL.doc Note that this is an MS-Word file...that means you are to fill out the answers in MS-Word format, then print out the document and give me the hardcopy at the time of your final presentation. Thus, you need to provide me the following at the time of your Final Presentation: 1) Your Final Report (11pp.) on paper (not e-copy) 2) Your Presentation Viewgraphs on paper (not e-copy) 3) Your Advisor Grading Form completed by your advisor 4) Your Student Questionnaire Form completed by you THESE MUST ALL BE IN PAPER FORMAT, not e-copies. Items 3) and 4) refer to the URLs cited above. Thirdly, the signup sheets for Final Presentation are on my office door. I have left four extra slots so you can have some latitude in picking your presentation time. Please DO NOT MAKE YOUR OWN TIME SLOT (sorry for the caps, but students tend to do this at the end of the semester...) Sign up only in the slots provided. I will be sending another email before the Final Presentation, with pointers to Web links for presentation organization, dress code, etc. Pls. feel free to email me if you have questions. Thank you for your patience with this long email. Best wishes for success in your projects, and ... Happy Thanksgiving :) Mark. mssz@cise.ufl.edu ----| Message #6 |---- Date: Thu Nov 10 18:08:37 EST 2005 Subject: Congratulations on excellent Midterm Presentations!! Class: I was very pleased with your CIS4914 Midterm Presentations (#2)! The quality of presentations and viewgraphs was generally excellent. Some of you have asked about midterm grades, which are posted at the following URL: http://www.cise.ufl.edu/~mssz/SeniorProject/CIS4914-Midterm-Grades.txt Please feel free to email me if you would like clarification. I will be posting the dates and times for the Final Presenation, together with signup sheets, sometime in the next two weeks, as soon as we work out availability of conference rooms. Keep up the good work, and best wishes for successful completion of your projects! Mark. mssz@cise.ufl.edu ----| Message #5 |---- Date: Sun, 30 Oct 2005 22:13:59 -0500 (EST) Subject: CIS4914 - Reminder - pls. sign up for Midterm Presentation #2 Class: There are approx. 7 students who still need to sign up for Midterm Presentation #2, to be given at the following times: Tuesday 1 Nov 05 05.30pm - 09.00pm CSE/E404 Thursday 3 Nov 05 05.30pm - 10.00pm CSE/E404 Most of the slots still available are on Tuesday. Thus, it would be wise to hurry on up to CSE/E446 and put your name in a signup slot. I look forward to your presentations - best wishes for success :) Mark. mssz@cise.ufl.edu ----| Message #4 |---- Date: Thu, 20 Oct 2005 17:32:15 -0400 (EDT) Subject: CIS4914 Senior Project Presentation #2 Schedule + Signups Class: The Second Midterm Presentation for CIS4914 (Senior Design) will be given at the following times and places: Tuesday 1 Nov 05 05.30pm - 09.00pm CSE/E404 Thursday 3 Nov 05 05.30pm - 10.00pm CSE/E404 Signup sheets are posted on my office door (CSE/E404), as for the first presentation. The second presentation will be graded (max total points = 5 out of a total of 100 for the course). Dress code is business casual, NO COLOGNE OR PERFUME, PLEASE (due to allergy season). Bring a CD-ROM with your presentation, and put your presentation on the Web, as well, in case the CD doesn't read correctly. Your presentation *must* be in PowerPoint format, with all literature citations in the proper format, per the link on the class Web page. Details about the viewgraphs can be found at: http://www.cise.ufl.edu/~mssz/SeniorProject/senior-MidtermOral-2.html These viewgraphs are not to be merely a copy of your Presentation #1 viewgraphs, but must show progress and have new information. A FLOW- CHART or DATABASE DIAGRAM IS REQUIRED. Screengrabs or interactive demos are optional. Be aware that your total presentation time is 8-9 minutes, with 1-2 minutes of questions, so plan accordingly. Because the presentation is graded, I strongly recommend that you rehearse it at least once with a friend listening - also use a video camera if you have one, and you will be able to detect problems that need to be remediated. I look forward to seeing and hearing your presentations! This meeting is designed to address your concerns about the presentations, and to discuss more about time management of your projects. Attendance is mandatory. Several students have asked me if they should bring their PowerPoint presentations. No, this is not a time to give presentations, just a discussion session. I am checking my schedule, and anticipate that the presentations will be the first week in October (homecoming week). However, I have to check dates with the Dept. secretary, to determine when the conference rooms will be available. I look forward to seeing you on Tuesday evening! Mark. mssz@cise.ufl.edu -EOF-
