Gautam S. ThakurPh.D.Mobile Networking Laboratory, C.V. (pdf) (updated Feb', 2013) Statement of Research (pdf) (updated Jan', 2013) |
Gautam received his Ph.D. (Dec', 2012) from The Computer and Information Science and Engineering department at University of Florida. He was advised by Prof. Ahmed Helmy. He was a research assistant in Mobile Wireless Networks Design and Testing Group (NOMADS) laboratory. He closely collaborate with Intelligent Networks and Management of Distributed Systems group at Deutsche Telekom Laboratories, Berlin under the supervision of Dr. Pan Hui and Dr. Hamed Ketabdar. His work allows for research in realistic and data-driven human (pedestrian) and vehicular activity (mobility) modeling in large wireless networks. He also studies the structure, function and science of such networks (and online social networks) using a combination of empirical methods and visualization techniques. During the summer of 2012, Gautam worked as a Lab Associate at Disney Research, Zurich (ETH, Zurich). He was working on Activity and Mobility Modeling of Theme Park Guests. This work was closely aligned with his PhD work on pedestrian mobility modeling. Currently, he is involved in two partially funded NSF projects on HumoNets and Planet Sensing.
Research Focus:
- Data-driven mobility modeling and protocol testing.
- User Profiling and analysis of collective behavior in social and mobile wireless networks.
