Projects

1. Project progress report is due April 4 2003.

It should contain a brief description of what you have tried so far. (1-2 double-spaced pages).

2. Projects should be finished by April 14 2003.

A project description will be due that day including sections on:

• Introduction, including your motivations
• Background, including a brief description of work and relevant literature
• Approach, including a description of the synthesis method you used. Include a diagram depicting the method in the filter form I used throughout the semester. Describe what you changed from previous work.
• Conclusions, including a subjective evaluation of your experience

Length should be no more than 4 written double-spaced pages, but can be longer if pictures are included. Try not to exceed 6 pages regardless. Complete papers can be shorter.

3. Project presentations will happen April 14-23.

• You should be able to demo your STK project
• Talk about the trial and tribulations of doing it
• Talk about the advantages and shortcomings

The short demo should be 5-7 minutes (we’ll have to get through 30 so try to stick within this time frame!)

Project grade will be:

50% project report

20% presentation

30% project quality

(which then is 40% of your total grade, see syllabus)
