Exercise 2: Independent Research into your Sound!

Instructions: Answer the questions in consise writing

1. Use the UF Library search to locate at least 2 relevant books that might talk about the acoustical properties of your sound. http://web.uflib.ufl.edu
2. Go to the library and look at the books
3. Take notes or make photocopies of relevant info
4. Write a 400 word summary (+/- 100) about what is known about the instrument (overview!)
5. Use Web of Science (http://isi6.isiknowledge.com/portal.cgi link ISI Web of Science) to find out if there is newer material than the references you found. Hint: Use references from the book in Web of Science and find out who cites them.
6. Add a paragraph to your writing discussing:
1. If there is new relevant literature
2. Citing (complete citations!) up to three most relevant onces (Relevance: Importance to computer modeling, description of sounding mechanism on a level potentially accessible to you, recently published)

For questions about library skills, use of search engines and use of Web of Science, I recommend the reference librarians!
