The model closely
follows the actual dimensions of the Parthenon, designed by Iktinos,
Kallikrates and Pheidias.
I browsed many Web sites to gather information about it. I
selected
the data that seemed to be the most reliable (accompanied
by bibliographic
references to books
of history and architecture). The main
resources I used are:

The one problem was the columns because
I needed to create an extrusion form from a
quarter of circumference, but
after that, it was simple to create the columns. Other problem
was the position of these columns because
I needed to repeat many time the instruction of
translation. The same happened with
the terrain. Other problem was the textures because
I was trying to avoid the deformation of them by the texture function.

Well, quite a first project.
I will begin by saying that working in VRML is
very cool.
I enjoy it very much.
I first obtained the blueprints of the parthenon and
then when I
saw how much of a
project this was going to be i decided to look for some good visual
authoring tools...
I tried many, but my favorite was Spazz3D. This is an
excellent and
should almost be a
reccomended product for this class. I spent
many, many hours
developing this
world and trying to make it as accurate as possible.
I used extrusion,
sweeps, revolutions,
and texturing as just a few of the non-shape nodes. In fact the only
shape node I used was box. Well, I hope you enjoy my world of
the Parthenon. .
