  1. Rick Sedlacek, Raytheon Systems Company: Raytheon Systems Company in St. Petersburg, Florida, develops a variety of communications systems and products for defense and security applications. We seek candidates with real-time embedded engineering development skills in the systems, software, and hardware disciplines. Our development environment is NT and UNIX using object-oriented methodologies and primarily C++ for software. The target products are typically multi-microprocessor systems running a real-time OS such as Vx Works and using CORBA. The VME bus architecture is commonly used. Digital Signal Processing is utilized heavily in all products. We also do a significant amount of network security engineering using commercial off the shelf products. Candidates must be able to demonstrate initiative within a team environment.
  2. Kenneth L. Geishler, Exxon Corporation Exxon is seeking candidates with a BS or MS degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering to fill Systems Application Analyst, Geoscience Systems Analyst, Systems Engineer/Administrator, and Telecommunications Engineer/Analyst positions. In addition to high academic achievements, candidates should possess strong analytical, leadership, interpersonal and communication skills. Some IT related work experience (e.g. internship, Co-op, etc.) is desirable in seeking employment with Exxon.   3. Roger Smith, STAC, Inc: When we are recruiting students we look at their major and areas of emphasis that they have had within that major. Specifically we like to see and interest in simulation and modeling. Software engineering is also a very applicable skill for building the software systems we deliver to the government. Once we have evaluated the student’s technical ability/preparation we talk to them about their interests and accomplishments. We are trying to assess what type of role the person would fit into. Those with aggressive personalities and the ability to communicate well may be able to help with marketing and interfaces with our customers. Those that have an interest in business, accounting, and writing may be good candidates for project organization - leading to management.

Software languages of interest are Java, VRML, Visual Basic, Visual C++, with an emphasis on Microsoft Windows applications.
