Benefits of Joining the IAB

It's time to get together. You want earlier and more finely tuned access to our students, and a chance to comment on our curriculum and programs. You want students who know how to apply themselves when they come out of their degree programs. You also want to network with other IAB company representatives and faculty, and find out what are the "hot areas" in CISE, and how you can benefit from these areas. We want to better understand your company and how we can link our research and teaching to your industrial needs. We can use your help in aiding students and faculty to apply themselves so that the link between academia and industry is made strong. There are no fees for joining our IAB. It's time to make this relationship happen--plan to join the IAB now and come to the next meeting. Some specific benefits our listed below.

• Benefits to Industry
  • CISE/IAB Matchmaker Program: Tailored and expeditious connection to our students at all levels long before the normal recruiting phase (senior year (BS), MS and PhD students). Resumes are put online and students are encouraged to update their resumes.
  • Opportunity to interact closely with faculty, students and peer industrial members during semi-annual meetings (one in the Spring and one in the Fall).
  • Receiving co-OP students and interns.
  • Receiving faculty for lectures and short courses on topics of importance to your company.
  • An opportunity to interact with comments and recommendations on internal department committee agendas (Facilities, Curriculum as two examples).
• Benefits to CISE Department
  • Opportunity for faculty to stay in touch with real-world industrial technical problems and solutions.
  • Interaction of industrial participants in CISE research projects.
  • Working jointly with industry on proposals to the Federal Government.
  • Donation(s) of equipment, software or funds to aid in better teaching and research.
  • Receiving guest lecturers from industry in courses and in the Colloquium Series.
