  • Air Directions to Gainesville: There are three major carriers in Gainesville: USAir, Delta and Continental. Delta will soon be replaced by the ASA short distance carrier; however, reservations can be taken by any Delta agent. The local hub for USAir is Charlotte, North Carolina, while the Delta hub is Atlanta, Georgia. All major flights into Gainesville from "the north" will go through one of these cities. An alternative is to fly into Jacksonville or Orlando, but you will need to rent a car. The Jacksonville airport is roughly 1.5 hours by car and is northeast of Gainesville. The Orlando airport is roughly 2.5 hours by car and is southeast of Gainesville.
  • Ground Directions to Gainesville:
    1. If you are coming from the north, drive on 95 south to Jacksonville, take 295 south/west until you get to Route 10. Take 10 West until you get to 301. Take 301 South until you get to Route 24 (to Gainesville). Take 24 to University Ave. Turn right on University Ave. until you get to NW 13th Street (Martin Luther King Boulevard). Make a left on 13th street until you get to Museum Drive (on the right). Use instruction #3.
    2. If you are coming from the south, drive on 75 north until you get to the first Gainesville Exit (Williston Road). Get off at this exit and make a left. Go about 50 yards and make the next immediate left. You will now be on 34th Street. Go to Archer Road/Route 24 (about 4 miles) and make a right onto Archer. Go to 13th Street and make a left onto 13th street. Go to Museum Drive (on the left). Use instruction #3.
    3. Follow Museum Drive until you get to the first traffic light. On your right you will see a four level parking garage. Make a right turn at the light (Newell Drive) and stop by at the traffic attendent booth. He will provide you will a parking permit that you can put in your car. Turn around and go back to the parking garage to park. Bldg. CSE (Computer Science and Engineering) is 5 minutes walk north on Newell drive. It has a modern architecture and contains a yellow metal sculpture outside of the building.
