Important Note
The purpose of this page is to share with you Object-Oriented related resources
for which I can personally vouch. I am certain that there are many fine
works that do not appear on this list. Direct comments to me, Dave Small, at

Books
- Object-Oriented Software Construction, 2nd edition
- Author: Bertrand Meyer
- Pages: 1254
- Published: 1997 by Prentice-Hall
- Cover price: $70
- ISBN: 0-13-629155-4
- Comments: Many consider it the book on OO programming. An
excellent work. Very rigorous and methodical. Quite readable and well
written. The price is steep -- $70 for a paperback, ouch!! -- but, if you
are serious about wanting to learn OO theory, it is worth the investment.
My only real criticism is that at times, the author pontificates on the basis
of his aesthetic sensibilities; he holds very strong opinions and they can
lead him to give short-shrift to ideas with which he doesn't agree. None the
less, the book is definitely worth reading. The book includes a CD, which
among other things contains the book hypertext form.
- Object-Oriented Software Design & Construction with Java
- Author: Dennis Kafura
- Pages: 651
- Published: 2000 by Prentice-Hall
- Cover price: $51(?)
- ISBN: 013011264X
- Comments:
Good, and through coverage of OO programming concepts and idioms.
Introduces the UML and some of Java's more advanced features.
- Object-Oriented System Development (HTML
edition)
- Author: Dennis de Champeaux, Douglas Lea, and Penelope Faure
- Pages: 532
- Published: 1993 by Addison-Wesley
- Cover price: $60
- ISBN: 0-201-56355-X
- Comments: A good overview of OO software development methodologies;
divided into two part: analysis and design. Read it online at http://gee.cs.oswego.edu/dl/oosdw3/index.html
Web Sites
These are the OO related web sites that I visit most frequently. There are
many, many more in my bookmark file, which at some future time, I may organize.
Link
collections

about all things Object-Oriented.
- The Object-Oriented Page
- Maintainer: Ricardo Devis
- URL: http://www.arrakis.es/~devis/oo.html
- Comments: A well organized and commented link collection. This is
a good resource, even though it has been more than a year since its last update.
