Yo Danica: Hi everybody... glad to be here Yo Josh: Hi! Good to be here, also! NickOnLine: Our first question is for Josh. . . Question: Ok, so Josh, ther is this huge rumor going around that you are Marilyn manson. I know Question: this isnt true, but how do you think this rumor got started and are you aware of it? Yo Josh: Yes, I am very much aware of it... Yo Josh: I receive close to 20 emails a week asking me if this is true...3 Yo Josh: obviously, it's not, but I enjoy the creativity of some people. NickOnLine: Danica, here is a question for you. . . Question: Danica, is it true there were scenes cut from the final episode, shot in the barn ? Yo Danica: I dont' think so..... Yo Danica: Did you hear something about this? Yo Danica: I never did. NickOnLine: A question for both of you. . . Question: do you guys keep in touch with fred savage? Yo Danica: Absolutely.. Yo Danica: I was with him on his 21st Yo Danica: birthday this summer. Yo Danica: And I surprised him... Yo Danica: on the talk show Vibe... Yo Danica: Tuesday night. It was a lot of fun! Yo Josh: Not really. We have mutual friends that pass along "hello"s.... Yo Josh: but being on opposite sides on the country makes it tough. NickOnLine: A great question for Danica. . . Question: Hi Danica. The relationship between Winnie and Kevin was one of the most moving I have Question: ever seen on television. What did you find most touching about the relationship? Yo Danica: Well... the romance was always fun.... Yo Danica: but the part about their relationship Yo Danica: that I loved the most... Yo Danica: was the fact that no matter what... Yo Danica: At first it was really strange Yo Danica: and although I'm much more used to it now Yo Danica: the Wonder Years will be somewhat... Yo Danica: like a large collection of home videos. Yo Danica: It was a great way to grow up. Yo Josh: It's definitely bizarre. Even now when I see a re-run.... Yo Danica: The set had a really nice family environment Yo Danica: and I wouldn't change those years for the world. Yo Josh: I can't beleive people are watching me. I guess one of....... Yo Josh: the benefits that my kids can watch their dad grow up. Question: Yo Danica - Yo Josh - Do yall ever get recognized on the street? Yo Danica: All the time. Yo Danica: Most of the time people are very nice. Yo Danica: So it's a very enjoyable experience.. Yo Danica: for the most part. Yo Josh: Yes. I think that's one of the greatest parts of being an actor..... Yo Josh: You get to find out that what you do really affects... Yo Josh: some people. Yo Josh: And that without the fans.... Yo Josh: we wouldn't have a job. Yo Danica: Here, here. Question: Did the show make each of you a bigger fan of '60s and '70s culture? Yo Danica: Well I was only 12 years old when the show started... Yo Danica: so I didn't have a very strong opinion one way or the other.... Yo Danica: but I can say that I have a bit of an affection... Yo Danica: for those eras now... Yo Danica: and their clothing as a direct result of being on the show. Yo Josh: Absolutely.... Yo Josh: The music of the time was one of the most important... Yo Josh: characters of the show. To this day... Yo Josh: I still love the music of that time... Yo Josh: also, because of the show... Yo Josh: I got to grow up in two different eras.... Yo Josh: I got to witness the first man on the moon.... Yo Josh: Woodstock, the Nixon era, as well as the fall of the Berlin Wall. Question: Josh & Danica, Do you think teen life is better in the 70's or the 90's???? Yo Danica: Let me start off by saying.... NickOnLine: Just for being here you could be one of ten lucky winners of a great Nick at Nite prize. Yo Danica: that better is a pretty general term... Yo Danica: I know that things must be different in a lot of aspects.... Yo Danica: because of the advances in technology.... Yo Danica: that better is a general term... Yo Danica: and the increase of crime to name a few things.... Yo Danica: so it's hard to judge, Yo Danica: but I have always believed that the same universal human issues... Yo Danica: show themselves in every era and this is why Yo Danica: the Wonder Years has an audience... Yo Danica: ranging from those who remeber their childhood in the 70s.... Yo Danica: to those who are experiencing their childhood in the 90s... Yo Josh: Well like I said, the eras are very different.... Yo Josh: but one of the beauties of the show, as Danica mentioned.... Yo Josh: is that it captured growing up..... Yo Josh: in an era is basically the same. The only difference is.... Yo Josh: the surroundings around you. Having "lived" in both, I enjoy.... Yo Josh: living in the 90s. But.... Yo Josh: it would've been very exciting to live in the 60s. Question: Josh, are you still in show business? If so, doing what? Yo Josh: Not at the moment.... Yo Josh: I decided to take a couple years off.... Yo Josh: to pursue my academic career at Yale..... Yo Josh: after this year when I graduate.... Yo Josh: I hope to go to law school, but acting is still very much.... Yo Josh: a part of my life. Sometime down the line.... Yo Josh: if an opportunity arises to get back into the business..... Yo Josh: I probably won't hesitate to act on it. Yo Danica: Very punny :-) Question: Danica, What's in your future as an actress? Yo Danica: Um... I'm not going to be very picky in terms of the genre Yo Danica: I may try theater... Yo Danica: but what really matters to me is to stay involved with projects... Yo Danica: that I believe in... I plan Yo Danica: to retire to acting after I graduate this year. Yo Danica: oops that was return not retire Question: Danica, are you an active member in environmental groups? Yo Danica: I haven't been as active as I was.... Yo Danica: before I started college... Yo Danica: but that's one of the things that I lookf forward to becoming more involved in Yo Danica: after I graduate from college. NickOnLine: A question for both of you. . . Question: Why do you think the Wonder Years is so popular? Yo Danica: I believe the Wonder Years has been well liked Yo Danica: for the reason I mentioned earlier--- Yo Danica: it hit on a lot of universal issues.... Yo Danica: that everyone experiences during childhood... Yo Josh: I agree with Danica.... Yo Josh: I got people of all ages come up to me..... Yo Josh: and tell me how real they think the show is.... Yo Josh: We had a talented writing staff.... Yo Josh: who all lived during that era in one age group... Yo Josh: or another. So what you saw on TV... Was this an inside joke? Yo Danica: laugh...I didn't even know about that... Yo Danica: but I think it's hysterical.... Yo Josh: I didn't know anything about this either! Question: Why did the show end, and is there going to be a reunion? Yo Danica: Well the series ran for 6 years.... Yo Danica: and although I loved being on the show.... Yo Danica: it did have to end some time... Yo Danica: In terms of a reunion... Yo Danica: I haven't heard anything but you never know. Yo Josh: I agree with Danica -- all good things must come to an end.... Yo Josh: Since television is based on viewers.... Yo Josh: it would be up to the fans to decide... Yo Josh: whether there would be a reunion or not. Question: Danica, I read that you and your sister were both up for Winnie. How often does that Question: happen as you audition? Yo Danica: Well we are approximately the same age.... Yo Danica: and when we were younger... Yo Danica: we did audition for many of the same parts Yo Danica: but this is the only role where it came down to just the two of us... Yo Danica: When the producers decided to hire me for the part, Yo Danica: they promised Crystal a role on the show.... Yo Danica: and they fulfilled their promise... Yo Danica: Crystal portrayed the role of Becky Slater for three seasons Yo Danica: It was wonderful working together! NickOnLine: Just by being here, you could win a great Nick at Nite prize! Yo Danica: Um... the scenes that my character was in... Yo Danica: mainly focused on those same issues of childhood that I keep bringing up... Yo Danica: that were very much prevalent in my own life so I could... Yo Danica: draw on my own experiences... Yo Josh: Since Paul represented the style and the trend of the era.... Yo Josh: I was very much aware of the fashion and other symbols... Yo Josh: of the era. If I had any questions that the writers or producers.... Yo Danica: (Oh come on Josh...didn't you love your outfits?) Yo Josh: or directors couldn't help me with.... Yo Josh: I would ask my parents.... Yo Josh: although sometimes this didn't help either because there... Yo Josh: was so much going on all over the country and my parents.... Yo Josh: are only two people. But I do think it was cool that my mom.... Yo Josh: almost went to Woodstock, but she thought it woudn't be any fun.... Yo Danica: (Did your parents help you with the trauma of wearing big flowered shirts....) Yo Josh: And my father recently told me.... Yo Danica: and striped bell bottoms? :-) Yo Josh: that his mother threw away all of his baseball cards... Yo Josh: In regards to the trauma, it's only traumatic in today's age.... Yo Josh: My parents assure me that everybody wore those ugly clothes! Yo Danica: Good answer Question: Do you have any advice for a young actor trying to establish a steady and long career in Question: Hollywood? Yo Danica: Well... the business is a tough one to break into.... Yo Danica: but as Dan Lauria always says.... Yo Danica: "Don't try to break into the business," Yo Danica: "Create your own business" Yo Danica: For example... Yo Danica: putting together theater groups, raising money.... Yo Danica: to produce a small film, etc.... Yo Danica: but most of all.... do it beacuse.... Yo Danica: You love the acting, Yo Danica: and you're bound to have fun. Good Luck! Yo Josh: The most important part.... Yo Josh: of acting is to keep it fun. Look at it more as a hobby than a career, and... Yo Josh: never forget to enjoy every minute as it's happening. Yo Danica: When I started playing the role of Winnie, Yo Danica: I think I made her very much like me... Yo Danica: and as I've grown older... Yo Danica: I've grown a bit away from who Winnie is... Yo Danica: but I believe we both have a lot of integrity... Yo Danica: and high morals. Yo Josh: I tried to portray Paul as a part of every human being.... Yo Josh: we all have a little Paul inside of us... Yo Danica: (chuckle) Yo Josh: he's loyal, bright, funny, and eager to have a good time... Yo Josh: I think that everybody should have a friend like Paul.... Yo Josh: There are a lot of parts of me that are very much like Paul.... Yo Josh: but there are also other parts of me....
