How should one post a reply on a news digest?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Posting_style has a discussion on the topic, which recently came up on the MATLAB Newsgroup. Below is my preference.

Bottom posts is clear to me, all goes before is what I see. Then of course there's always those who like to post between their toes. "Interleaf" posters like to say, their discussion's clear as day. And I shall say; my preference is here to stay: For best news posting and digesting, particular for matters int'resting, for breaking down the inter leaves, nicely and organically, my preference is com-posting. ;-)
