- Rainbow's End - Vernor Vinge - 4.5
Rainbow's End gets ahigh score because it has a lot of forward thinking technology. In particular, it's a good read for anyone working in AR. It shows a fairly realistic view of where AR technology could be heading.
- Spin - Robert Charles Wilson - 4.6
This book has some good insights into human nature. The most interesting part is, "what would people do if they thought the world was ending". The characters have most the trappings of real people, which keeps them interesting. It also has some fun to read ideas about what can be done if time outside our world were sped up.
- The Lost Fleet: Valiant, Corageous, Fearless
- The Sirens of Titan - Kurt Vonnegut - 3.5
- The Sam Gunn Omnibus
- Mutineer's Moon - 5
Fun space adventure. Presents really interesting technology.
- Oath of Swords
- The Honorverse - David Weber - 5
Yes, the whole series is a 5. Every book is immersive. They're all really detailed. They're really long books, but I'm so glad they are.
- Off Armageddon Reef
- Mars - Ben Bova - 3.5
- Hidden Warrior
- The Bone Doll's Twin
- Elantris - 5
- Lamentation - Ken Scholes - 4
- The Sharing Knife - Lois McMaster Bujold - 4.5
- The Oracle's Queen - Lois McMaster Bujold
- Dune - Frank Herbert - 4
Dune is a classic, and Herbert creates a fully fleshed out world. My only complaint is actually the time span. The book covers many years, and we don't really get much time to know the characters. They're described, rather than getting to know them by their actions. The plot covered in this book could have taken up 4 books easily.
- Dune Messiah - Frank Herbert - 2
- Twilight - Stephenie Meyer - 4
- New Moon - Stephenie Meyer - 3
- Eclipse - Stephenie Meyer - 5
- Breaking Dawn - Stephenie Meyer - 5
- The Graveyard Book - Neil Gaiman - 5
As with all of his books. This is a fun and easy read. It's a short book, would be great for a plane ride.
