Abhijit's Personal Website

Abhijit received his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in computer engineering in 2007. He graduated from the Computer and Information Science and Engineering department at the University of Florida, Gainesville and was advised by Dr. Chris Jermaine.

Abhijit's research focus is in the area of databases, with special interests in approximate query processing, physical database design and indexing, and data streams. He has presented research papers at several prestigious database conferences and performed research at the Microsoft Research Lab. He is now a Senior Software Engineer in the Strategic Data Solutions at Yahoo! Inc.

During his studies at University of Florida, Abhijit coauthored a text book titled "Developing Web-Enabled Decision Support Systems". He taught the Web-DSS course several times in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of Florida. He presented several tutorials at workshops and conferences on the need and importance of teaching DSS material, and he also taught at two instructor-training workshops on DSS development.

Before his Ph.D. studies, Abhijit has received his Bachelor of Engineering from Government College of Engineering Pune (COEP), University of Pune, in 1999. Abhijit majored in mechanical engineering with throughout distinction record and stood second in university merit ranking. Abhijit then received his first Master of Science from University of Florida in 2002. He majored in industrial and systems engineering with special interest in supply chain management and information technology.
