Interests
My research focuses on applied mathematics and high-performance computing. Specifically, I develop theory, algorithms, and code for sparse matrix computations. Google Street View relies on my sparse solvers to fuse sensor data in their open-source nonlinear system solver, so that the images appear in the right place. My research results and software are used in MATLAB (x=A\b when A is sparse), by commercial packages including Cadence, MSC Nastran, Ansys, IBM, Berkeley Design Automation, Wolfram Research (Mathematica), and open-source packages (R, Octave, for example). My research is also noted for its artistic contributions.
