Web Servers
Primary Server: www
Our primary web server is available through URLs starting with www.cise.ufl.edu.
This machine is NOT available for users to log in for security reasons. As such, special care must be taken when using CGi scripts, or other dynamic web pages. Only fully-debugged scripts should be used on the main web server.
Secondary Server: www-pub
Every CISE URL which can be accessed from the primary web server can also be accessed from the secondary server. Simply start the URL with www-pub.cise.ufl.edu instead of www.cise.ufl.edu.
The advantage of using the secondary server is that users can see
relavant parts of the error_log and access_log.
Login to the
www-pub log viewer
with your CISE username and password to view them.
Note: If your browser complains that the SSL certificate
for www-pub.cise.ufl.edu is invalid, it's because
it's self-signed by the Department and not by a recognized
Certificate Authority. While it is unlikely someone will provide a fake
certificate, it is still possible though.
