Make sure both your home directory and the new directory are at least
group and world executable:
% chmod 711 ~% chmod 755 ~/public_html -
Create a file named
index.htmlin~/public_html. Edit this file as you wish, but please try to use valid HTML. -
Make sure
index.htmlis group and world readable:% chmod 644 ~/public_html/index.htmlYou will need to do the same for most other files you create:% chmod 644 ~/public_html/FILENAME -
The URL for your home page will be
http://www.cise.ufl.edu/~USERNAME/, where USERNAME is your CISE username. Do not include the "public_html" directory in the URL.
Note: Other index types are permitted.
