Security Incident Response

UF's Security Team is constantly running scans on UF's network looking for compromised or vulnerable machines.

** When a machine is reported to a UF department as vulnerable or compromised, the department has 24 hours to either patch the machine or remove it from the Network. **

When we, the CISE admins, receive a notice from UF Security, that a self managed machine has a vulnerability or has been compromised, we will notify you via email and if possible we will place a notice on the offending machine.
Please patch the offending machine within 24 hours and respond to the email sent to you by the CISE admins. We will then need to update and close the ticket with UF Security.

If you have students that are working for you, it is important that any self managed machines they use be properly labeled. When a vulnerable or compromised machine is found, we will notify both you and the student and if possible, physically label the machine.

In order to aid in resolution, it is very important that each student machine be labeled with the following information:
IP Address,
MAC Address,
Responsible Students Name and CISE Account Username,
Students Email Contact Information,
Students Advisor.

Example:
IP: 192.123.33.33
MAC: 00:1d:09:97:6a:98
