Secure Remote Access to CISE
This page contains information on how to access CISE services securely over the Internet.
Please Note: Do to an increase in brute force attacks against the CISE network, many of our machines now run firewalls to prevent repetetive failed connections. If a machine stops responding to your ssh requests, please wait for a minute and try to connect again.
Why do I need secure clients?
Using SSH instead of telnet
- Getting and installing PuTTY for Windows (recommended)
- Getting and installing TTSSH for Windows
- Getting SSH for Linux and other Unix clients
- Getting SSH for Mac OS
Use secure file copy methods instead of FTP
- WinSCP (recommended)
- PuTTY (both secure FTP and SCP)
- SFTP on Unix
Secure Mail Access
- Using mail.cise.ufl.edu as a mail hub/relay securely for outgoing mail from anywhere on the Internet using SMTP Authentication
