Syllabus

All readings are from An Scientific Computing, An Introductory Survey (3rd Edition) , Michael T. Heath, McGraw-Hill 2012. (The link is for 2nd Edition.)

We will cover Chapters 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 13. Not all material in each chapter will be covered. We will be using Matlab extensively throughout the semester, and MATLAB Primer is an excellent book on using MATLAB. Matlab 7.3 is available on most CISE machines.

Homeworks and Exams

There will be approximately 10-11  weekly homeworks, one midterm and a (cumulative) final. The grading percentages are homeworks (30%), midterm (30%),  and final (40%).

Homeworks will be assigned and due on Thursdays in class unless otherwise noted.

Students with Disabilities

Students requesting classroom accommodation must first register with the Dean of Students Office. The Dean of Students Office will provide documentation to the student who must then provide this documentation to the Instructor when requesting accommodation.
