Syllabus

All readings are from An Introduction to Numerical Methods and Analysis, James F. Epperson, John Wiley and Sons, 2002.

We will cover Chapters 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7. Not all material in each chapter will be covered. We will be using Matlab extensively throughout the semester. Matlab 7.3 is available on most CISE machines.

Homeworks and Exams

There will be approximately 10-12  homeworks, a project, midterm and final. The final will only cover the material after the mid term. The grading percentages are homeworks (30%), project (10%), midterm (30%) and final (30%).

Homeworks will be assigned and due on Tuesdays in class unless otherwise noted. If you are unable to turn in the homework by the end of class Tuesday, you can turn in the homework late with a 30% penalty before Wednesday 5pm. (Please indicate this by writing "LATE" at the top of your homework.) We will award no credit for homeworks received after Wednesday 5pm.

Students with Disabilities

Students requesting classroom accommodation must first register with the Dean of Students Office. The Dean of Students Office will provide documentation to the student who must then provide this documentation to the Instructor when requesting accommodation.
