• Owing to requests from students and in view of the difficulty level of the midterms, I wish to clarify the grade curving policy a bit. The class average currently is about 71 percent right now. After the final exam, the figure is likely to change.
  • In what follows, everything is based on the overall total score at the end of the semester, including midterm 1, midterm 2, final exam, quizzes and homeworks.
  • If you are close to the class average (on the overall total), you will most probably end up with a B or a B+.
  • If you are significantly below the class average (on the overall total), but above (or equal to) 40 percent, you will get a C or a C+. Getting below 40 percent on the final total puts you in trouble, i.e. a D grade.
  • Getting above (or equal to) 85 percent in the overall total ensures an A.
  • Other details cannot be given out right now, as the overall distribution of grades is unknown.
