FAQs
- Project 3
- Q1. Is persistent storage required for keyword DB on MSD, URS servers? If so, is there a preferred way of doing it?
- A1. Yes. Persistent storage is required. There is no preferred method - implementation will be up to you.
- Q2. Should the MSD-PROBE/ADD-SPACE messages that are node specific be sent with unicast rather than multicast?
- A2. In order to be interoperable, all external interactions must be uniform, so implement as specified. As regards to the MSD-PROBE message, if it comes on the channel from the parent, then ignore if it does not apply to you (your subtree in the keyspace).
- Q3. Does each MSD server have to have a URS server?
- A3. Yes. Each MSD server will have its own URS server that holds the configuration of the parent node. One MSD server and one URS server consists of one domain. For example, if you are to construct the same hierarchy as you did for project 2 using 5 MSD servers, each of them would have to pair up with its own URS server and you will end up with a hierarchy of 5 domains.
- Please add a [inversion flag] field to the REDIRECT protocol right after the [char-set] field and increase the parameter number to 6. i.e. REDIRECT [0x07] [6] [char-set] [inversion flag] [keyword]...
