BASIC REQUIREMENTS

Paper is 4000 words long, including title page and bibliography
(for papers less than 4000 words, final paper grade will be multiplied by words written/4000,
-2 if more than 5000 -5 if more than 5500)

At least 8 sources properly listed on bibliography page according to MLA format, and all sources listed in the bibliography are parenthetically cited correctly in the text. (-3 for each source < 8 including if you don't cite the source, -2 for each instance of incorrect MLA format including citing a source not in your bibliography )

Term Paper guide instructions followed, i.e. title page format, main 4 sections labeled, Paper stapled as instructed, Pages numbered, evaluation sheet attached (-2 each infraction) 

Paper adheres to basic standards of grammar and spelling (-5) 

Paper adheres to chosen topic, i.e. at least stays on topic even if a report (-5) 

Thesis section identifies topic, controversy of topic, and goal of paper (-3 each) 

Introduction section outlines pro side, outlines con side, explains how goal will be achieved (-3 each) 

Discussion section details pro side, details con side (-5 each) 

Conclusion section summarizes arguments in support of goal (-5)
