Biographical Sketch:

Joachim Hammer is on leave in the SQL Server group at Microsoft Corp. Before joining Microsoft in 2007 he was an associate professor in the Department of Computer and Information Science and Engineering at the University of Florida. He was also a member of the database center. From 1994 until 1997, Joachim was a Research Scientist in the database group at Stanford University. At the University of Florida he was leading projects on knowledge discovery and extraction, data warehousing, and information integration. He was also teaching courses in database systems, data warehousing, XML, and data structures and algorithm design. Joachim received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from the University of Southern California under Prof. Dennis McLeod in 1990 and 1994 respectively.
