ABSTRACT:

The Internet link bandwidth and the size of Internet router table are growing dramatically. Nowadays, gigabit fiber links and router tables of several hundred thousand entries are commonplace. Hence, there is a need for high-end routers that can process Internet packets faster and are scalable to the rapid growth of router tables. Particularly, packet classification based upon packet header information is a major bottleneck of a high-end router.

This talk will present efficient algorithms to construct fast and scalable packet classifiers.
